Notes:
Named in honor of C.C. Calkins, an early European Mercer Island settler, and very close to Slater Park, it provides another glimpse into Mercer Island history. Apparently there was quite a recreation area here in the late 1800s. The park itself has a lawn area big enough for family picnics and a lovely gravelled beach, but still hard on the feet! The upper part of the park has a small number of off-street parking places. |
